1st Annual Alexander von Humboldt Day
The celebration begins with a series of five local guest speakers: Erik Ohlsen on Regenerative Landscaping; Randy Ritchie on Biodynamic Farming; Mark Ervin on Regenerative Farming; Elizabeth Kaiser on no-till farming; Suzanne Bontempo on eco-friendly pest control. Also participating will be current-day practitioners, and vendors (many of whom will be giving out samples). We will also have sales of many products, and a scavenger hunt with prizes. The event will be free to attend. Born on September 14, 1769, Alexander von Humboldt is often called the “father of modern of natural science”. Von Humboldt first warned of potential climate change over 200 years ago. He was the first naturalist to conclude that “no single fact can be considered in isolation” and coined this concept as the “Web of Life” which is a foundation principle of every environmentalist, naturalist, and organic farmer.
